IRCTC Resumes Operations After Scheduled Maintenance Causes Brief Downtime

IRCTC Website Back Online After Hour-Long Downtime Due to Maintenance

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website has been restored after being down for an hour on Monday morning, disrupting online ticket bookings. Users encountered a downtime notification stating the e-ticketing service was unavailable due to “maintenance activity.”

Upon accessing the website during the outage, users were met with a message reading: “Due to maintenance activity, e-ticketing service will not be available for the next one hour. Please try later. For cancellation/file TDR, please contact customer care at 14646, 0755-6610661 & 0755-4090600 or mail at etickets@irctc.co.in.”

The outage impacted services including online ticket booking, cancellations, and Tatkal bookings, leaving many users frustrated. Social media platforms were flooded with complaints about the IRCTC’s performance and accessibility.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) humorously expressed their frustration:

“Using the IRCTC app daily feels like running a marathon in slow motion, except the finish line is a ‘Session Expired’ message.”

Another user was more critical, saying:

“Worst app in the history of the Universe #IRCTC Rail connect. First of all, the application is too slow to get it started. Also, you guys allow agents to do Tatkal bookings for the first five minutes. Near impossible to book a Tatkal ticket.”

These complaints highlight ongoing concerns about the platform’s reliability and its daily maintenance issues. Several users questioned the frequency of these outages and whether such regular maintenance is truly necessary.
