Delhi Schools on High Alert Again Over Bomb Threat, Days After Hoax Email Incident

At least six schools in Delhi received a bomb threat via email on Friday, marking the second such incident this week. Authorities have not found anything suspicious so far.

Among the schools targeted were Delhi Public School in East of Kailash, Salwan School, Modern School, and Cambridge School. The threats prompted the authorities to evacuate students and send them home, with schools informing parents not to send their children to classes on that day.

The email, which was accessed by officials, claimed that “several explosives” were placed on the school premises. The sender also mentioned a “secret dark web” group allegedly involved in the bomb threats. The message further stated that the bombs were powerful enough to destroy the buildings and harm people, warning that December 13 and 14 could be the dates for a potential explosion. The email specifically referred to the parent-teacher meetings scheduled for December 14, calling it a “good chance” for the bombs to detonate.

The sender also demanded a response from authorities to reveal their “demands.”

In response, fire department teams, police, bomb detection squads, and dog units were dispatched to the schools to conduct thorough checks. Delhi Police is also investigating the IP address to trace the sender of the email.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed concern over the recurring bomb threats, calling the situation “extremely serious and worrying.” He highlighted the impact on children and their education, questioning how such incidents will affect their studies.

This comes just days after a similar bomb threat was sent to over 40 schools in Delhi on December 9. The police later determined that incident to be a hoax, with the sender demanding $30,000 to defuse the purported bombs. The email also warned of injury to many people if the bombs were to detonate.
